I am going to be a vendor for the first time at a craft fair tomorrow! I wanted a nice table cloth for my display since I read that presentation is more than half the sale. Since I have 2 boys, of course I decided I wanted to make a table cloth with tulle!
My requirements are:
- Removable (for storage and laundering purposes)
- Not as full as I’ve seen online
I decided on grey for a couple reasons: so dirt wouldn’t show as easily as the day progressed, and because I wanted to use grey tulle. Since I won’t make the tulle as full, the color behind it will show. But I also read that the display items will pop on a white tablecloth.
I sewed a fitted tablecloth – white on top, grey on the sides.
Now for the removable tulle portion, what you’ll need is:
- Fitted table cloth
- Tulle
- Ribbon
- Glue gun
- Needle and thread
I ended up using about 5 yards of tulle only. My table height is 29 inches so I cut the tulle every 28 inches. I used needle and thread to zig zag all the tulle together.
My table is 72 inches long so I spread out the tulle out and tried to distribute it as evenly as possible.
Next, grab your ribbon ( I fell in love with this one from Joann) and hot glue it to your tulle. Use a scant amount. It’s gonna go thru the tulle so do glue it on top of something you don’t mind getting some hot glue residue on or can remove the glue from once it cools.
Now to make it removable, use velcro to attach the skirt to the tablecloth.
Tada!
I am so excited about tomorrow, cannot wait! I’ll post an update after the fair. If you’re in town, stop by! My booth will be at the intersection of Main St and Chestnut St in downtown Clifton, VA.
